Ilaria Bruck

My Yoga journey began as an 18-year-old, with a suggestion from my chiropractor to help with chronic back pain. I soon discovered that Yoga also helped manage my emotions and anxiety. Life threw me a curveball with a serious injury a few years back, but Yoga remained my lifeline. It taught me resilience, acceptance, and the power of surrender.
Initially trained in the Ashtanga tradition under the guidance of Paul Kleesmaa in Nottingham, UK, over the last 13 years I have cultivated a deep understanding of this practice through dedicated study and commitment. I have been mentored and influenced by internationally-renowned teachers like Gregor Maehle and John Scott, and by the resident senior teachers at the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne Amanda Stead and founders Greg and Tracy Cooper. As a co-owner of the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne, I am committed to breaking down barriers of entry to Yoga, making it accessible with therapeutic modifications, clear explanations, personalised attention and deep dives into philosophy, anatomy and functional movement. I encourage my students to cultivate a sustainable practice and manage their energy, prioritising internal awareness, harmony and curious exploration.
Besides teaching daily Ashtanga classes, I also offer teacher mentoring, disability and community classes, and occasional restorative, Yin and anatomy workshops. With over 5000 hours of teaching experience, I continue to deepen my knowledge by attending workshops, retreats and further training, such as my ongoing studies in Zenthai Shiatsu Therapy. Yoga has been a profound teacher in my life, and I’m honoured to share its gifts with you.
